The only effective way to reduce the number of incidents of police violence and acts of police misconduct is to reduce the number of police officers, and to narrow the scope of their responsibilities. We need to pressure local elected officials to defund police departments, re-invest those resources into programs that address the underlying causes of crime and improve the quality of life in our communities. We need you to take the lead in your community.

Reach out to any of your local elected officials who have a role in deciding your local budget, and ask them to meet with you and your fellow constituents about the police budget. Once you have a meeting time scheduled, fill out this form with details for a Defund the Police meeting with a local elected official. You can choose to have a virtual meeting or an in-person meeting.
